The 7-Month Journey*

_phase1

2-Month Intensive Training

Expand your AI-empowered development skills, software engineering foundations, and master the Wix tech stack (React, Node.js, Java). The program is structured in cohorts, allowing you to collaborate on projects, solve challenges as a team, and build strong peer connections that will support you throughout your time at Wix.

_phase2

Hands-On Work

Work hands-on in rotations within multiple engineering teams, gaining exposure to diverse products, architectures, and real business challenges at scale. After the program is completed, a mutual matching process will begin to join a Wix engineering team as a trained xEngineer.

*As part of our xEngineer mindset and AI-driven environment, the program evolves with technology and business needs. The timeline reflects our current plan and may be adjusted to ensure a relevant and impactful learning experience.

/* xengineer

What is an xEngineer?

The xEngineer represents Wix’s vision for the future of development. As AI writes more and more code, the focus of our engineering fundamentals is shifting to areas requiring human judgment, creativity, systems and software design. This is more than adopting new tools - it’s a mindset shift.

The xEngineer model enables fewer handoffs, clearer ownership, and more autonomous teams - all while preserving deep expertise, collaboration, and high engineering standards.

Design-First: Understanding the “what” and “why” before the “how”.

End-to-End Ownership: Taking responsibility for complete systems from design to production, and owning the outcomes.

AI-Native: AI is an integral part of every workflow, not just an assistant.

Critical Thinking: Questioning AI outputs and understanding the underlying behavior of the code.

/* Testimonials

Hear from our people

Gal Sharir portrait

Gal Sharir

Engineering Guild Manager

“Kickstart was my first full-time role – and it truly kickstarted my career. It gave me the foundation I still build on today, and a cohort I’m still connected with nine years later.

This year’s program is dramatically different; KickstartX focuses on ownership, design thinking, production mindset, and cross-stack depth. These are no longer ‘senior skills’— they’re the standard for the new xEngineer. And that’s exactly what this program is designed to strengthen.”

Aviran Mordo portrait

Aviran Mordo

VP Engineering

“For years, Kickstart has been the gateway for the brightest minds to join Wix. But in this new era of the 'xEngineer,' we aren't just teaching junior developers how to code, we are empowering them to lead. The KickstartX program is designed to give our newest engineers the AI-native tools and architectural mindset they need to own products end-to-end from day one.

It’s not just about teaching code, it's about building the foundation for careers in the AI era.”

Backend Developer ( Alumni of Kickstart )

“Joining Wix through a junior program gave me a strong foundation in the infrastructure and tools I use every day. Learning alongside a group of new people just like me made all the difference; we helped each other get up to speed and we built strong friendships.

Now almost a year after the program I really appreciate having familiar faces from different teams all around Campus.”

GM, AI-Native Transformation & AI Platforms

“KickstartX teaches you how to work the way engineering is actually evolving.

You’ll learn how to design work for parallel execution, prepare codebases for agents, review AI output critically, and operate with real system context – not just ticket-level thinking.

If you want to grow into an engineer who leads systems instead of just implementing tasks, this program is built for you.”

Your questions answered

( 1 )

What’s the KickstartX curriculum?

The curriculum has evolved into an AI-first journey designed to build xEngineers. The program is split into 2 distinct phases:

Phase 1: Intensive Training
Expand your AI-empowered development skills, software engineering foundations, and the Wix tech stack (React, Node.js, Java) in a group of like-minded peers.

Phase 2: Engineering Rotations & Deep Exposure
Work hands-on in rotations within multiple engineering teams, gaining exposure to diverse products, architectures, and real business challenges at scale.

After the program is completed, a mutual matching process will begin to join a Wix engineering team as a full xEngineer.

( 2 )

Who should apply for the KickstartX program?

The program is designed for junior developers (0-3 years of experience) who are already exploring what it means to be AI-native, want to be part of Wix, and join our engineering journey. We are looking for open-minded applicants, who are passionate about software development, eager to learn, and are not afraid to make mistakes and learn from them. If you are ready to take the next step in your career of software engineering in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, you should definitely apply.

( 3 )

Where does the program take place?

KickstartX 2026 takes place at the Wix Campus in Tel Aviv (Glilot). Participants are expected to be on-site five days a week. Upon successful completion of the 6-month program, graduates will be placed in one of our engineering teams.

( 4 )

What if my application is rejected?

It is important to keep in mind that even if you don’t get accepted to the KickstartX program, our door, at Wix, is always open. This does not eliminate you from future applications. At any time, you can apply through the regular funnel or for the next program.

( 5 )

What does it mean to be a part of KickstartX?

From Day 1, you are a full Wix employee, not an intern. You will receive a full salary, benefits, and be fully immersed in Wix's unique culture. You’ll join a community of peers starting their careers together, supported by mentorship from top Wix engineers.

( 6 )

What is an “xEngineer” and how is it different from a regular developer?

The xEngineer is our vision for the future of software development. Unlike traditional roles that focus on a single stack (frontend or backend), an xEngineer takes end-to-end ownership of a product. As AI begins to generate more production code, xEngineers shift their focus from line-by-line coding to high-level human judgment areas: system design, architecture, security, scalability, and reliability.

( 7 )

What if I want to specialize in FED or BED later on in my career at Wix?

KickstartX is open to frontend, backend, and fullstack developers. The program focuses on building xEngineer capabilities – strong ownership, system thinking, and effective use of AI – as a foundation for long-term growth.

Specialization remains important at Wix. The xEngineer model does not replace professional depth; it strengthens it by placing expertise within a broader, end-to-end ownership context. As engineers grow, it’s expected that they will deepen their expertise in frontend, backend, or other domains, based on their interests, strengths, and the needs of the company.

( 8 )

What is expected of me during the course?

KickstartX participants are expected to contribute to the course’s collaborative environment. Participants should be curious, eager to learn, and quick to adapt while embracing the quickly-evolving AI landscape. We also expect participants to take full advantage of the program and its resources, in order to gain the most out of it. Most importantly — enjoy the journey!

( 9 )

What is the application timeline?

Registration Opens: March 25
Application Window: 48 hours only (closing March 26).
Technical Exam: April 17
Interviews: April 29- May 4
Program Start Date: June 14, 2026

( 10 )

What if I am on reserve duty?

We understand this is a really challenging time and we want to do our best to accommodate you. If you are in reserves during the application window period, you can still apply to the program using this link and uploading official documentation of your service (אישור מילואים) until April 12th.

If you are in reserves at a later stage in the process, and cannot attend the exam or interviews at their scheduled dates, we will do our best to come up with a solution together on a case-by-case basis.
